Overview / Job Summary

Aleris is a global leader in the manufacture and sale of aluminum rolled products, with approximately 14 facilities in three geographically aligned business units in North America, Europe and China. We serve a variety of end-use industries, including aerospace, automotive, defense, building and construction, transportation, packaging, and consumer goods. Our North America division is seeking to add a talented Store Room Attendant to its team at our Clayton, NJ facility. The purpose of this role is to perform ongoing manual and detailed clerical work involving receiving, storing, stocking and inventory of items to optimize stock levels, reduce inventory and remove obsolete items in a plant store room.

Responsibilities Include

  • Maintains a safe working environment by complying with Aleris HSE standards and policies, all state and federal regulations, and company policies and procedures.
  • Receives and unpacks incoming orders, checking against items listed on requisitions, invoices or other order forms.
  • Picks up, stores and delivers supplies and/or materials, including hazardous chemicals.
  • Assembles, adjusts and/or repairs articles carried in stock.
  • Counts, weighs and/or marks articles with identifying codes, figures or letters as required.
  • Inventories stock on hand and requests supplies as needed.
  • Fills orders or issues supplies upon proper authorization.
  • Provides information and recommendations on stock items and billing to other departments.
  • Communicates with vendors, both verbally and in writing, on matters relating to supplies.
  • Packages materials for shipping.
  • Completes all required paperwork on a timely basis, maintains active files and records history, and prepares necessary reports.
  • May test and modify new custodial supplies and equipment.
  • Performs housekeeping of areas under responsibility.
  • Participates on continuous improvement teams and initiatives.
  • Works within the parameters created by the ISO9001:2008 quality system.
  • Performs all other duties and projects as assigned and required by the Maintenance & Engineering Manager.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • Experience working in an industrial maintenance setting is preferred.
  • Strong oral, written, interpersonal, organizational, and telephone communication skills, including communication with vendors.
  • Experience working with manufacturing based technology, processes and principles; specifically ERP and CMMS. Computer literacy and ability to learn new software packages quickly and apply knowledge to daily tasks and projects.
  • Possess a strong customer orientation to support Mechanics, Machinists, Electricians, and production teams.
  • Ability to bring together appropriate people and information to make timely, effective decisions.
