  • Overview / Job Summary

     

    Aleris is a global leader in the manufacture and sale of aluminum rolled products, with approximately 14 facilities in three geographically aligned business units in North America, Europe and China. We serve a variety of end-use industries, including aerospace, automotive, defense, building and construction, transportation, packaging, and consumer goods.  We are currently seeking a talented Director of Operations at our plant in Uhrichsville, Ohio.

     

    Responsibilities Include

    Responsibilities Include:

    • Culture:
      • Actively participate in maintaining a zero incident safety culture.
      • Live and champion the Aleris core values; Safety, Integrity, Customer Focus, Ownership, Excellence, and Teamwork.
      • Create an accountable culture through the use of culture management tools and by modeling the company’s core values.
    • Safety:
      • Provide leadership and support in driving Safety Systems (15-Elements) to a high level of performance.
      • Ensure the plant’s compliance with all HSE Policies and applicable laws.
    • Quality:
      • Ensure product shipped meets customer specifications through robust quality systems.
      • Maintain ISO certification.
    • Delivery:
      • Maintain and improve customer satisfaction by delivering orders on-time and in full.
      • Proactively and collaboratively communicated with appropriate parties to demonstrate a high level of Customer Focus.
    • Cost:
      • Manage company resources in order to achieve the short-term business objectives and position the facility as a long-term viable competitor.
    • People:
      • Lead the talent management process for the plant to ensure the required people resources are in place to deliver the business objectives.
      • Ensure that employees are being developed to ensure the required skills are in place and to maximize employee potential.
    • Capital Expenditures
      • Develop and implement capital investment projects to deliver the business strategy.
      • Oversee capital expenditures to ensure AFE consistency / quality and adherence to capital budgets.
    • Business Planning & Strategy
      • In consultation with the VP, manufacturing, develop annual Plant Blueprints and strategic initiatives for the Uhrichsville facility.
      • Partner with the commercial team in assessing specific new business opportunities, developing operational strategies to support the commercial opportunities.

    Required Qualifications

    Requirements Include:

    • A Bachelor's degree in Operations Management, Engineering or related field.
    • Demonstrated success in leading teams in a capital intensive manufacturing environment.
    • Ability to create the desired culture to deliver desired results.
    • Strong behavioral demonstration of our Aleris leadership competencies, Influences People, Customer Focus, Drive for Results and Building Relationships.
    • 10+ years manufacturing management experience.
    • Working knowledge of financial statements and manufacturing accounting.
    • Ability to understand technical manufacturing processes.
    • Must be an excellent communicator, with strong ability to deliver the plant blueprint by setting the proper measurables and holding team members accountable.
    • Strong, self-confident, decisive leader with excellent listening skills, emotional maturity and ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment.
