    Aleris is a global leader in the manufacture and sale of aluminum rolled products, with 14 facilities in three geographically aligned business units in North America, Europe and China. We serve a variety of end-use industries, including aerospace, automotive, defense, building and construction, transportation, packaging, and consumer goods.


    Our Rolled Products North America (RPNA) division is seeking a Human Resources Generalist at our facility located in Ashville, OH. The purpose of this role is to provide support to the Human Resources Department for all plant HR activities involving talent management and day-to-day administration of HR related activities. Lead and coordinate, administer, evaluate, and manage human resources planning, development, policies, programs and practices within the Ashville facility, under the guidance of the Human Resources Manager.

    3. Employment/Recruitment
    • Responsible for administering all recruitment, development, and retention programs for hourly and salaried personnel. Specific tasks include, but are not limited to, posting site level roles in the ATS, maintain current updates in the ATS, developing sources of qualified applicants, executing appropriate background/education verifications, conducting/leading appropriate interviews throughout process, assisting hiring managers with role description development and review, assisting hiring managers with matching of applicant skills to role core accountabilities,
    • Responsible for the completion of the new-hire process including ensuring requisitions forms, on-boarding processes and budgets are adhered to.
    • Maintain working relationships with local Career Centers, Department of Employment Services, professional recruiting agencies, and local professional organizations to provide access to public/private employment programs and services.
    • Assist in design and administration of procedures for on-boarding new employees including recruitment, hiring, orientation tools, and processes.
    • Conduct exit interviews and summarize data to assess retention issues.
    1. Performance Management
    • Assist in identifying, evaluating, and resolving human relation and work performance problems, providing functional guidance to the leadership team.
    • Assist with evaluation and management of staff development programs.
    • Support and administer performance review systems are in place that enables Aleris Ashville to retain current top performers.
    1. Training and Development
    • Assists with all management development, supervisory, and associate training activities including needs assessments, vendor selection, and in-house training course development.
    1. Labor Relations
    • Work closely with the Human Resources Manager in providing advice on past history, and to assist in grievance meetings, Civil Rights issues, and preparation for arbitrations as needed.
    1. Review and make recommendations to the Human Resources Manager for any improvements to HR policies, procedures and practices; communicate appropriate changes to all employees and ensure compliance.
    2. Maintain and update all HR records, including, but not limited to employee files, HRIS system, and spreadsheets.
    3. Will serve as a backup to payroll.

    Required Qualifications

    Required Qualifications:

    • An associate’s degree in Business or HR Management with three (3) to five (5) years of Human Resources experience in a manufacturing environment, OR A bachelor’s degree in business with a focus in Human Resources Management and at least two (2) years of experience as an HR professional in a manufacturing environment.
    • Ability to set, stabilize, and model a trusting, cooperative, and customer focused environment which allows work groups to reach their individual potential while working productively toward the completion of specified goals and objectives.
    • Excellent written, verbal, listening and interpersonal skills. Must have ability to learn quickly and work in fast-paced environment. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization. Maintaining a positive, exemplary customer focused demeanor during various types of employee interactions. Able to act as role model to engage workforce in the adherence of HR and other company policies, symbols and systems while reaching for maximum efficiency and productivity.
    • Ability to interpret and diagnose problems, accumulate significant data, seek contributions, sort data, and initiate actions to prevent or overcome problems.  

    Work Environment:


    • Tasks performed typical office environment with moderate noise level. Does require occasional travel, exposure to inclement weather and to an industrial environment where employee may be subjected to fumes, airborne particles, loud noise, overhead cranes and other plant mobile equipment.
    • Requires standing; walking; sitting; using hands to finger, handle or feel objects or use controls; reaching with hands and arms; climbing stairs; balancing; stooping or kneeling; talking, and hearing. Must sometimes lift or move items weighing up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
