  • Overview / Job Summary

    Aleris is a global leader in the manufacture and sale of aluminum rolled products, with approximately 14 facilities in three geographically aligned business units in North America, Europe and China. We serve a variety of end-use industries, including aerospace, automotive, defense, building and construction, transportation, packaging, and consumer good.

     

    Our operations team is seeking to add a talented Shipping & Recieving Coordinator to our Uhrichsville Recycle facility. This role processes incoming and outgoing shipments and receipts to meet customer needs. 

    Responsibilities Include

    Health, Safety, & Environmental

    • A role model for safety; demonstrates behaviors that align with the Aleris safety principles and holds the team accountable for results.
    • Ensures compliance with all health, safety and environmental regulations, company policies and procedures.
    • Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of the Aleris Safety System and actively collaborates with colleagues to continuously improve the execution of the system for a zero injury culture.

    Shipping, Receiving, & Inventory Control

    • Verifies incoming scrap loads to scheduled arrivals; contacts suppliers or customers when discrepancies occur.
    • Acts as the point of contact for suppliers, customers, operations team, and truck drivers.
    • Designates all incoming material and completes appropriate paperwork for truck drivers.
    • Provides accurate and timely reports and load tickets, working closely with the supply chain and the operations team.
    • Conducts random and weekly inventory audits of materials to ensure proper work procedures are followed.
    • Serves as the backup to the Materials Analyst, supervising the Shredding Department and Shipping Docks as needed.
    • Understands the need to service customers while maintaining cost effective operation.
    • Prioritizes daily workload efficiently with minimal supervision.
    • Ability to multi task and make sound decisions based on specific situation.
    • Actively follow-ups and pushes for closure on open items.
    • Perform all other duties as assigned.

    Relentless Drive for Improvement

    • Applies appropriate AOS tools to identify and solve problems and sustain solutions.
    • Prevents issues or distractions from interfering with timely completion of daily Standard Work.
    • Modifies or develops work instructions per the ISO 9001:2008 quality system guidelines to keep current with actual practice within the Shipping/Receiving area.
    • Delivers results through continuous process improvements; recognizes problems as opportunities for improvement.
    • Identify best practices, facilitate continuous improvements with team, and allocate responsibilities for implementing improvement plans. 

    Analytical

    • Understands how behaviors and improvement activities impact cash conversion, EBITDA, and other key financials.
    • Implements Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for shipping, receiving, and inventory control. 
    • Ensures compliance to department budget, optimizes daily freight cost based on geography, monitors employee performance, time, and accuracy of paperwork.

    Teamwork

    • Proactively builds trust and effective working relationships with other departments; coordinates daily with Materials Analyst to review schedules.  
    • Partners with local management to ensure employees have the skills, knowledge, and tools to do their jobs safely and effectively.
    • Actively collaborates with plant leadership to establish clear standard work instructions and audits.
    • Demonstrates respect to employees, peers, managers, customers, suppliers, etc.

    Communication

    • Communicates effectively and resolves conflicts with suppliers, customers, the operations team, and truck drivers.
    • Knows when to make decisions at the point-of-contact and when to escalate decisions to upper management. 

    Required Qualifications

    • A high school diploma or equivilent is required. 
    • Excellent communication and organizational skills. Proficient with Microsoft Office. Ability to learn new software packages quickly and apply knowledge to daily tasks and projects.
    • Strong time-management, analytical, problem solving, and interpersonal skills.    
    • Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision. 
    • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
    • Ability to bring together appropriate people and information to make timely, effective decisions. 
    • Ability to oversee the work of others and encourage a safe and efficient environment
    • Ability to demonstrate effective leadership and team membership skills.
