We serve a variety of end-use industries, including aerospace, automotive, defense, building and construction, transportation, packaging, and consumer goods.


    Our Innovation Center is seeking to add a talented Process and Product Techology (PPT) Engineer, Casting, to its team. The purpose of this role is to hold, improve and transfer knowledge of processes, responsible for process improvement & assurance, support product implementation, define and start up new investments and processes. The key responsibility is to generate and manage all process settings and procedures to guarantee a qualitative production.

    Responsibilities Include

    • Responsible for the definition of all process settings which are used to ensure stable, robust, and efficient processes that deliver the required product quality.
    • Develop Standard Operating Practices (SOPs) to ensure best practices.
    • Identify and lead capability and quality improvement projects taking into account safety, cost, and environmental constraints, as well as the effects on subsequent processes.
    • Support quality and efficiency improvement projects from other departments.
    • Initiate, verify, and validate process changes within primary assigned area of responsibility using the Management of Change process.
    • Assist production, when necessary, to perform root cause analysis or troubleshooting in a structured way to address process or product nonconformities.
    • Assist with development and implementation of corrective actions in relevant processes resulting from claims and nonconformities.
    • Partner with production, maintenance, and engineering in his or her operational area.
    • Responsible for the setup of a system of process control for all relevant subprocesses including the Quant Lab to ensure stable performance in time.
    • Provide second line technical support on installation projects.
    • Takes initiative in continuous learning and development within functional area.
    • Partner with R&D on the industrialization of new products.
    • Support Product Technology (PT) group the qualification of raw material and ingot suppliers.
    • Lead the implementation and sustainment of Aleris Process Control (APC) in the assigned area.

    Key Deliverables:

    • Products and materials
      o General metallurgical knowledge about the products produced in the plant.
      o Detailed knowledge on thermo-mechanical & physical processing for the assigned area of responsibility.
    • New product implementation
      o Support for Product Technology and R&D groups to ensure fast and robust introduction of new specifications or products.
    • Investments
      o Assessment of the need for new investments or processes to improve quality or robustness.
      o Defined process requirements to support the effectiveness of the investment.
      o Startup and commissioning support of new installations and processes
      o Verification and validation of the startup of new installations, new investments or processes.
    • Systems, methods & concepts for the installations assigned
      o Good knowledge of all general systems such as: MVS, FMS, ABS and Oracle tools.
      o Good knowledge of all (level 1) control systems used.
      o Familiar with the IT architecture of the plant interconnecting the platforms mentioned above.
      o Good knowledge of all common PC Office and statistical analysis tools.

    Required Qualifications

    • B.S. Metallurgical or Material Science Engineering degree required.
    • Has a profound knowledge of all processes of assigned installation: Mechanical & Hydraulics, Chemical, Physical, Electrical & Controls, Measurement Systems, IT platforms (level 1– 3), and Thermo-mechanical processing capabilities.
    • Experience in aluminum casting required.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Six sigma green belt or black belt preferred.
