    Aleris is a global leader in the manufacture and sale of aluminum rolled products, with approximately 14 facilities in three geographically aligned business units in North America, Europe and China. We serve a variety of end-use industries, including aerospace, automotive, defense, building and construction, transportation, packaging, and consumer goods.


    Our Supply Chain team is adding a talented Logistics Manager to our Cleveland, Ohio office.

    Responsibilities Include

    Responsibilities Include:

    • Develop and implement preferred carrier strategies for national and regional transportation carriers
    • Negotiate and manage carrier and supplier contracts and build relationships
    • Communicate negotiated contract guidelines to all parties involved
    • Work with team to plan and execute daily shipments to customers and between Aleris facilities
    • Develop and analyze carrier performance metrics and score cards. Identify, implement and track opportunities for improvement and/or cost savings.
    • Work with the supply chain and procurement departments to establish more efficient and cost-effective operating policies and procedures
    • Collaborate with supply chain and plant operation teams in the development and deployment of logistics platform(s). Help ensure successful TMS implementation and support ongoing maintenance.
    • Identify preferred suppliers for products and services
    • Resolve carrier/supplier performance issues
    • Document synergies and verify with the appropriate financial personnel within business units
    • Participate in procurement initiatives and projects as necessary. May lead certain initiatives and/or teams.
    • Gather, document, and communicate market intelligence and forecasting for the business units

    Required Qualifications

    Required Qualifications:

    • A bachelor’s degree, preferably in procurement, supply chain, or logistics, MBA a plus
    • Minimum 5 years of experience in supply chain, logistics, sourcing, procurement or contract management
    • Experience in supply chain activities, including distribution/manufacturing and logistics disciplines
    • Must have an excellent working knowledge of Microsoft office
    • Proven effective leadership and management of direct reports
    • Strong decision making, analytical skills and proven ability to work cross-functionally
    • Ability to influence and direct multiple activities. Ability to work in a fast paced environment.


    Preferred Qualifications:

    • MBA is a plus
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills as demonstrated through team facilitation, coaching others, management presentations, project deliverables, and reporting
    • Firsthand experience and understanding of ERP systems with detailed emphasis on process flow
    • Exposure and a working understanding of contributing activities as sales and shop floor disciplines are preferred
    • Conflict management skills with the ability to constructively challenge stakeholders
    • Sharp analytical skills / ability to quickly & effectively analyze data & make sound recommendations
    • Ability to travel 10% to 25% domestic with occasional international travel
