    Aleris is a global leader in the manufacture and sale of aluminum rolled products, with approximately 14 facilities in three geographically aligned business units in North America, Europe and China. We serve a variety of end-use industries, including aerospace, automotive, defense, building and construction, transportation, packaging, and consumer goods.


    Our Rolled Products North America (RPNA) division is seeking to add a talented Plant Manager to its Manufacturing team in Lincolnshire, IL.  Reporting to the Director of Operations Davenport/Lincolnshire, the purpose of this role is lead all manufacturing operations including melting/blending, casting, rolling, coating and slitting of aluminum in compliance with environmental and safety standards, at specified volumes, quality and cost levels while maintaining high morale and cultivating a culture of continuous improvement. The facility employs approximately 100 employees.

    Responsibilities Include

    • Live and champion the Aleris core values; Safety, Integrity, Customer Focus, Ownership, Excellence, and Teamwork
    • Actively build a safe working environment and foster a zero-incident safety culture.
    • Lead the development of a long term (5+ years) business plan for the Lincolnshire plant which supports the business unit strategic plan.
    • Drive facility to world-class operating status.
    • Ensure plant operations are compliant with all environmental regulations.
    • Improve product quality and service to our customers.
    • Initiate plans and actions as a change-agent and leader for lean manufacturing, reliability and continuous improvement to achieve tangible results.
    • Review and analyze internal performance measures, anticipate potential negative trends in operations, and direct corrective actions when necessary.
    • Fulfill core accountabilities within the policies and procedures established by Aleris and the discretionary limits and standards.
    • Provide leadership to the Production, Materials Planning, and Engineering-Maintenance processes regarding production capacities, costs and other operating criteria.
    • Improve and control systems for cost and productivity while accomplishing Business Plan.
    • Provide a climate of consistency, trust and employee involvement.
    • Maintain and enhance an organizational structure consistent with the principles of a requisite organization of continuous improvement.
    • Build a strong team and develop the capabilities of all Lincolnshire employees through effective training, performance reviews, and provide for opportunities to maximize potential.
    • Ensure that all plant, equipment and facilities are utilized, operated and maintained efficiently and in a way that ensures effective long-term service.
    • Manage all plant capital requirements and ensure equipment meets the required safety, quality, and productivity standards.
    • Develop and maintain good relationships with the community, governmental agencies and officials and ensure good citizenship of the company.

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor degree in Engineering or Operations Management , or equivalent work experience, with a minimum 10 years’ experience in operations and business management.
    • Experience leading organizations of similar scale.


    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Previous plant management experience.
    • Experience implementing reliability engineering and lean-six sigma techniques.
    • Recognized certification in reliability engineering (i.e. Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional) and/or Lean-Six Sigma (i.e. Green or Black Belt).
    • Experience working in heavy industry.
    • Experience leading cultural transformations.
    • Experience in unionized environments.
    • Education in business / supply chain management to complement engineering/technical degree
