    Aleris is a global leader in the manufacture and sale of aluminum rolled products, with approximately 14 facilities in three geographically aligned business units in North America, Europe and China. We serve a variety of end-use industries, including aerospace, automotive, defense, building and construction, transportation, packaging, and consumer goods.


    Our Automotive Customer Service team is seeking to add a talented Inside Sales Representative to our Cleveland, Ohio office.  The purpose of this role is to provide superior service to customers (both current and new) via effective, measurable administration of inside sales processes while protecting the interests of Aleris. This role contributes to achievement of strategic initiatives and objectives by offering guidance/expertise to key customers and other members of Automotive Customer Service.

    Responsibilities Include

    • Effectively manage and service full account load. Resolve customer debits and outstanding credits in less than 42 days and consistently/efficiently enter accurate orders relative to customers’ instructions and corporate guidelines. Expect accuracy rate of 100%.  Also consistently meet guidelines for contractual agreements within your customer base.  Send customers all Order Acknowledgements.
    • Demonstrate the ability to effectively and independently make decisions within approved guidelines set forth by Aleris Rolled Products.
    • Back up the Sr Inside Sales Representative and others as necessary in Automotive Customer Service.  
    • Develop and maintain a comprehensive product and technical knowledge base to effectively support the Automotive team and customers.  This includes understanding customer requirements and specifications, Aleris products offered to Automotive customers, understanding how to use and update customer portals/systems when required by customer, understanding EDI and customer requirements for EDI transactions.
    • Anticipate, meet, and exceed customers’ needs in order to maximize customer satisfaction.  Promote a strong customer service image to our customers and other Aleris teams.
    • Accurately record bookings, consistent with tactical plans, on appropriate booking screens at the time they are taken to eliminate overbooking the mill for any product category in any given week.
    • Demonstrate positive, professional behavior toward your work, colleagues and management.  Provide guidance and assistance to other members of Automotive Customer Service.  Communicate effectively with your customers, colleagues and all levels of the organization.
    • Identify continuous improvement opportunities associated with Inside Sales and Automotive Customer Service processes.  Participate in Aleris Operating System activities.  Participate in established training programs as designated by supervisory staff or identified by the ISR as self-improvement needs, desires and opportunities.
    • Enter, track and coordinate completion of all Customer claims.
    • Utilize Oracle tools, specifically Sales Agreements, Release Management, Item Management and Order Management to successfully enter and manage customer items, forecasts and orders.  This includes by facilitating automatic uploads of EDI forecasts/releases from customers, manually uploading forecasts/releases when received other than EDI and manually creating orders.
    • Communicate customer delivery releases to Supply Chain tollers when so required.
    • Initiate metal hedging requests to Pricing as per customer contracts.
    • Provide item, forecast, sales agreement and order analysis/reports to Automotive team members as required.
    • Participate in and contribute to established customer calls to review open issues and items.  Be prepared to discuss inventory status, order status, debits/credits, claims, quotes and any other topic required.
    • Work with Key Account Managers and any required role to analyze and prepare customer quotes.
    • Work with Supply Chain and Duffel roles to initiate and oversee the order process and all its related activities when we sell metal produced Europe.  This includes contributing to weekly calls with Duffel Customer Service.
    • Work with Supply Chain for new item creation and inventory management.  Expectation is zero customer stock outs.
    • Monitor and Maintain accurate Customer CUMS (historical cumulative shipments) when required by Customer.
    • Maintain a proficient understanding of Aleris quality systems.  Contribute to certifications and audits.  Enter, track and complete Corrective Action Requests in a timely manner.  Contribute to the completion of Customer audits and certifications.

    Required Qualifications


    • Associate’s degree in business management or related field
    • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills and organization skills
    • Ability to use computer applications, such as spreadsheets, word processing documents, databases, and e-mail programs


    • Bachelor’s degree in business management or related field
    • Prefer experience in a metals-related business with a working knowledge of aluminum products.
