    Aleris is a global leader in the manufacture and sale of aluminum rolled products, with approximately 14 facilities in three geographically aligned business units in North America, Europe and China. We serve a variety of end-use industries, including aerospace, automotive, defense, building and construction, transportation, packaging, and consumer goods. We are seeking to add a talented AOS Global Manager - Training to its Aleris Operating System (AOS) team.

     

    Purpose of this role is to be the lead on the development, implementation and execution of a world class training, teaching, coaching, and continuous improvement management  system utilizing lean and six sigma techniques.  Overall scope includes design/redesign, management, and facilitation of the AOS training programs (white, yellow, green, black belts, reliability - apprentice, practitioner and professional)  for all levels of the organization (shop floor to senior executive).  

     

    The role will require approx. 50% to 75% travel to various sites in North America, Europe and Asia.  This position is a key strategic and tactical execution role of our Aleris Operating System – Reliable People (Operations), Reliable Process and  Reliable Equipment (Assets).

    Responsibilities Include

    • Actively participate in maintaining a zero incident safety culture.
    • Live and champion the Aleris core values; Safety, Integrity, Customer Focus, Ownership, Excellence, and Teamwork
    • Support the implementation of a world class AOS System: Reliable People (Lean Operations), Reliable Process (APC) and Reliable Assets (Equipment) through the development, teaching and coaching of a specialized training and skill enhancement CI program
    • Work with key AOS and management stakeholders to design, implement, sustain and evaluate a world class AOS training and development program
    • Partner with Corporate Training and Development Organization to ensure alignment in tools and techniques
    • Conduct needs assessments to identify current and future performance and capability gaps
    • Teach and train the trainer AOS curriculum to AOS managers, AOS resources, management and leadership teams, both corporate and plants 
    • Lead trainer/teacher for AOS Blackbelt program, support trainer on regional AOS greenbelt training and teach portions of AOS Reliability courses -professional and practitioner
    • Manage tracking and coaching programs for certifications Belt (yellow, green, black, master) and reliability programs   
    • Work closely with the plant AOS managers to determine the needs of the system, develop action and implementation plans
    • Track and monitor the AOS system skill sets and develop programs and initiatives to further enhance and close gaps
    • Develop relationships with local and national organizations that can support AOS training and tool development
    • Support cultural and lean transformation work across all of Aleris
    • Support the develop the standardized AOS toolbox
    • Openly and effectively communicate about continuous improvement, build credibility through relationships, and provide leadership to the program.

    Required Qualifications

    • 15+ years of experience developing, implementing, facilitating, teaching and coaching continuous improvement training and events with proven results and implementations in a manufacturing environment.
    • Lean Six Sigma Blackbelt Certification – both course work and hands on
    • Proven ability to work independently and successfully facilitate cross functional teams
    • Well Organized, Detailed, High energy, data driven, and results oriented.
    • Excellent interpersonal, written, verbal communication, presentation and organization skills, must be comfortable teaching and presenting to large groups at all levels of the organization from shop floor to CEO
    • Must be proficient in MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Project, Oracle, and various analysis tools (Minitab, etc)
    • Willingness to travel approximately 50% to 75% of the time, will be based out of one of our US locations

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Engineering or Manufacturing/Operations disciplines.
    • Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt or equivalent
    • Aluminum Casting or Rolling Experience
    • CMRP certification, SPC training/certification
    • Process/Technical/Operations/Maintenance experience with a proven track record of lean concepts
    • Leader in a previous Lean transformation site
