Aleris is a global leader in the manufacture and sale of aluminum rolled products, with approximately 14 facilities in three geographically aligned business units in North America, Europe and China. We serve a variety of end-use industries, including aerospace, automotive, defense, building and construction, transportation, packaging, and consumer goods.
Our Rolled Products North America (RPNA) division is seeking to a talented Sr. Accountant to join our team at the Richmond, VA Operations.
The Senior Accountant ensures that the Richmond facility adheres to the financial policies and procedures of Aleris International. The incumbent sets priorities, resolves problems, ensures that generally accepted accounting principles are followed and ensures that the company’s reporting requirements are satisfied.
•Maintain safe work environment on a daily basis and assist the HSE Manager in instilling a safe work culture in the departments.
•Participate and perform in month-end plant closing activities.
•Prepare primarily all journal entries.
•Work with corporate accounting to reconcile intercompany accounts.
•Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and lead plant review with corporate.
•Complete month-end reporting documents as assigned.
•Provide detailed analysis of plant cash conversion spending to department managers.
•Inventory verification/analysis and reporting.
•Sales / Cost of Goods sold analysis.
•Sales by customer reporting.
•Maintain plant SOX policies and provide compliance assistance to department managers.
•Conduct periodic internal audits at the facility to ensure compliance with plant SOX and corporate policies. Make recommendations for internal controls or process improvements accordingly.
•Ensure compliance with Fixed Asset policies of the company by working with plant employees in the ACR process, track spend by project and complete capitalization of projects in a timely manner.
•Assist plant controller in preparation of the yearly operating plan and monthly forecasts.
•Complete periodic reports with respect to KPI’s being monitored by the plant.
•Maintain the plant’s product code system (new products, routers, bill of materials).
•Provide analysis/reporting with regards to product profitability, plant productivity savings, etc.
•Customer invoicing and memo processing.
•Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business related field required.
•2+ years of practical accounting experience.
•Excellent Math and reasoning skills
•Proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
•Experience using Oracle or similar ERP system.
•Accounting experience preferred in manufacturing environment.
•Strong problem solving skills.
•Strong verbal and written communication skills.
•Ability to work independently.
