Overview / Job Summary

Aleris is a global leader in the manufacture and sale of aluminum rolled products, with approximately 14 facilities in three geographically aligned business units in North America, Europe and China. We serve a variety of end-use industries, including aerospace, automotive, defense, building and construction, transportation, packaging, and consumer goods. Our North American division is seeking to add a talented AOS Asset Reliability Manager to its North American AOS Team.

 

The purpose of this role is to provide Subject Matter Expertise (SME) on Precision Reliability Processes for the North American operations. In addition to providing technical expertise in a wide range of precision reliability areas, the role will include supporting the development, implementation, training, teaching, management and coaching of a world class manufacturing reliability system. The role will require approx. 75% travel to the various sites within North America with occasional travel overseas as needed.  

Responsibilities Include

  • Actively participate in maintaining a zero incident safety culture.
  • Live and champion the Aleris core values; Safety, Integrity, Customer Focus, Ownership, Excellence, and Teamwork
  • Provided subject matter expertise in or more of the following areas:
    • Vibration Analysis
    • Machinery Lubrication & Analysis
    • Precision Alignment
    • Power Transmission analysis, inspection and reporting (drivetrain, gearbox, coupling, bearings, etc.)
  • Development of corporate programs and processes for one of more of the above areas of expertise.
    • Develop processes and standards
    • Generate technical documentation in the form of standards, manuals and/or guidelines
    • Develop, coordinate and offer training on programs and processes
    • Audit, inspect and report on the performance of the NA plants with respect to the standards.
  • Participate and coach RCFA’s in the NA plants.
  • Provide expertise during prolonged unplanned outages where local plant resources are struggling to return equipment to operation.
  • Develop Asset Lifecycle plans for the critical high capital assets in NA
    • Contingency plans
    • Planned Refurbishment/Rebuild/Replacement
    • Managing obsolescence
  • Provide Coaching and mentorship of plant leadership teams in developing and managing Reliability Roadmaps.
  • Participate in Reliability auditing throughout NA. Make recommendations on implementing solutions.
  • Work with project engineering to ensure Design for Reliability concepts have been incorporated to ensure the maintainability of new and modified installations by using the life cycle asset management process.
  • Participate in the development of design and installation specifications along with commissioning plans.

Required Qualifications

  • HS Diploma/GED
  • Demonstrate subject matter expertise in the areas of:
    • Vibration Analysis
    • Machinery Lubrication & Analysis
    • Precision Alignment
    • Power Transmission analysis, inspection and reporting (drivetrain, gearbox, coupling, bearings, etc.)
  • 10+ years of experience in precision reliability role(s) in a manufacturing/heavy industrial organization
  • CMRP or CMRT certification
  • Lean Six Sigma Belt training/certification;
  • Operations/Maintenance Leadership
  • Must be proficient in MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Project, Oracle, SAP and various CMMS applications.
  • Must be comfortable teaching and presenting to large groups at all levels of the organization
  • Willingness and capability to travel 75%+ in North America, as well as international (15%)

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Aluminum industry experience
  • 20+ years of experience in precision reliability role(s) in a manufacturing/heavy industrial organization
  • Post-secondary education in a Business or Technical area of study
