Overview / Job Summary

Aleris is a global leader in the manufacture and sale of aluminum rolled products, with approximately 14 facilities in three geographically aligned business units in North America, Europe and China.  We serve a variety of end-use industries, including aerospace, automotive, defense, building and construction, transportation, packaging, and consumer goods.

 

Our North American division is seeking to add a talented Electrical Maintenance Planner to our team.  The purpose of this role is to plan and schedule maintenance work in the assigned area in the most cost-effective manner, minimizing equipment downtime and adhering to all Aleris policies and state, federal, and local governmental regulations.

Responsibilities Include

  • Comply with all Aleris safety requirements, policies and regulatory statutes.
  • Plan and schedule maintenance work in accordance with all safety policies and procedures.
  • Working with the area Technical Advisor to develop and maintain effective Preventive Maintenance (PM) programs for all equipment in area of accountability.
  • Maintain and review equipment performance history to identify opportunities for improved reliability or cost improvement.
  • Provide job planning and scheduling services for area of accountability, including, but not limited to:
    • Complete description of work to be performed
    • Detailed bill of materials for job
    • Work methods
    • Special equipment needed
    • Blueprints and/or other special information needed
  • Working with the area staff, help develop and distribute weekly maintenance schedules and coordinate work between production and maintenance.
  • Maintain and update maintenance equipment records, including parts lists, storeroom set-ups, and other files as needed.
  • Encourage active involvement of bargaining unit personnel in planned, proactive maintenance activities.
  • Process in-house repairable items in a timely and cost-effective manner.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Proven ability in planning, organizing and time management is a must.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills required.
  • Proven technical competence.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in engineering related discipline preferred.  In exceptional circumstances, industrial experience as a maintenance planner can substitute for the degree.

  • Experience as a maintenance planner preferred.
  • Experience in the aluminum industry, especially in a rolling mill environment, is preferred.
  • Experience with a CMMS system preferred.
