Overview / Job Summary

Aleris is a global leader in the manufacture and sale of aluminum rolled products, with approximately 14 facilities in three geographically aligned business units in North America, Europe and China. We serve a variety of end-use industries, including aerospace, automotive, defense, building and construction, transportation, packaging, and consumer goods.

 

The North American division is seeking a talented Automotive Launch Manager to its team in Lewisport, KY.  The purpose of this role is to drive and manage the suite of improvement activities identified to meet current & future site performance and readiness objectives.

Responsibilities Include

  • Act as Launch Manager to successfully ensure completion of OEM Customer program material supply. The position must seamlessly interface with the a wide range of teams in the Corporate offices (Business processes), Detroit Innovation Center(Technology, Commercial, Field Engineering), and the Manufacturing Plants(HSE, Operations, Technology, Supply Chain…)
  • Lead Customer facing PDCA reviews bringing together and concisely summarizing all key relevant data to monitor, manage, evaluate, and drive Program launch status updates.
  • Develop and work through A3s by facilitating individual and team problem solving.
  • Ensure overall view of activities to critical outcomes and key milestone dates are clearly understood with issues identified and countermeasures on-going. Facilitate any and all required inter and intra-group problem identification and resolution activities as required.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain Program Master Timing Schedules & reference tools required to achieve critical milestones toward Start of Regular Production for contracted OEM’s including reviews with Senior management.
  • Lead key kaizen activity to develop systems and processes as required.
  • Lead processes to identify risks to launch with key stakeholder teams including plans for part resupply and inter-Plant mitigation.
  • Monthly reporting of Readiness activities and status.

Required Qualifications

  • BA or BS degree in Engineering or Business related field required
  • At least 2 years of Project Management experience in an Industrial setting
  • Critical skills thinking skills, ability to create and think through A3s, and the ability to facilitate individual and team problem solving are required.
  • Familiarity with Lean Kaizen techniques and Visual Management
  • Ability to proficiently use MS Project & Office Suite
  • Positive can-do attitude is a must
  • Ability to travel up to 10% domestically

Preferred Qualifications

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt preferred
