Our Lincolnshire  location is looking for an experienced Maintenance & Engineering Manager to ensure that preventive and predictive maintenance programs are implemented, documented, and carried out in the prescribed manner.

The position will require the incumbent to work in a manufacturing environment which can be hot, dusty and may require climbing on or around equipment to supervise repairs or operating and/or riding in lifts and hoists to performing such work. Incumbent must handle multiple projects and priorities and be willing to work overtime as necessary to meet demanding and difficult emergency situations.


The successful candidate will establish strong relationships with all organizational levels in order to build collaborative approaches toward maintenance management.

Responsibilities Include

  • Manages and coordinates break-down, corrective, renovated, and preventive maintenance to minimize equipment downtime and optimize utilization.
  • Supervises maintenance pertaining to building and grounds.
  • Conducts all management duties concerning training, counseling, performance appraisal and discipline involving personnel in the department.
  • Responsible for productivity of all maintenance personnel.
  • Determines manpower requirements and schedules overtime as needed.
  • Controls waste of materials and other direct and indirect costs to operate maintenance within budgeted costs.
  • Manages open work orders through the use of a computerized maintenance management system.
  • Manages projects as assigned by Plant Manager.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with outside vendors, suppliers, and contractors to ensure continuity of resources to effectively meet maintenance performance standards.
  • Maintains equipment documentation files including prints, manuals and other pertinent information.
  • Develops and manages spare parts inventory through the use of a computerized maintenance management system.
  • Works with Human Resources, loss prevention insurers, and others to ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
  • Trains employees concerning plant and job hazards and the methods in order to protect themselves.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations, as well as any internal policies as it pertains to required safety training.
  • Enforces all plant safety regulations.
  • Investigates accidents and close calls and follows up with remedial actions.
  • Maintains high level of housekeeping in all areas.
  • Ensures compliance with collective bargaining agreement for overtime scheduling, seniority, grievance handling.

Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or business management.
  • Masters/MBA a plus.
  • Experience in the aluminum or steel industry a plus.
  • 7 to 10 years’ experience leading a maintenance team in an industrial or heavy manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in mechanical and electrical industrial maintenance.
  • Strong working knowledge of purchasing, PLC systems, hydraulics, pneumatics and overall machine design.
  • Able to interact with vendors, customers, contractors and employees at all levels of the organization; able to make decisions “under fire”.
  • Proven negotiating, interpersonal and both written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.
