Aleris is a global leader in the manufacture and sale of aluminum rolled products, with approximately 14 facilities in three geographically aligned business units in North America, Europe and China. We serve a variety of end-use industries, including aerospace, automotive, defense, building and construction, transportation, packaging, and consumer goods.

 

We are seeking to add a talented a Senior IT Systems Analyst to our Information Technology team at our facility in Lewisport, KY. The purpose of this role is to support the Lewisport business computing environment in the areas of computer operations and MVS operating system support as well as a working knowledge of, but not limited to, specific Computer Associates software (JOBTRAC, Top Secret, View, Deliver, Endevor). Technology solutions and operations processes adopted will have a business case developed and will be based on business needs and best practices.

Responsibilities Include

  • Actively participate in maintaining a zero incident safety culture.
  • Live and champion the Aleris core values; Safety, Integrity, Customer Focus, Ownership, Excellence, and Teamwork.
  • Contribute to the development of Lewisport Information Technology strategies and policies.
  • Work with Lewisport Business Unit staff to identify, scope, and prioritize necessary modifications to Information Technology systems. Develop and recommend plans to achieve the authorized priority modifications.
  • Develop and apply efficient and cost effective procedures for the operation and maintenance of the computer applications. Develop procedures to reduce downtime needed for backups and create a process to notify on call support when errors occur.
  • Participate in Business Process Modelling sessions, acting as a co-facilitator, facilitator, or subject matter expert in sketch sessions.  
  • Work collegially with all Information Technology team members to ensure an appropriate level of integration between computer applications, desktop and server-based applications, and communications network Infrastructure.
  • Provide consulting, coaching and support for Information Technology services to all departments within Lewisport plant.
  • Provide team leadership / membership concepts with the objective of operating Lewisport information assets by following adopted best practices.
  • Perform audits and controls to ensure information reliability and integrity.
  • Implement and administer operational and DR processes for Lewisport based Information Technology Systems platforms that are within both internal and external audit guidelines. Address any deficiencies as required based on priorities established by Aleris International audit policies.
  • Apply configuration changes to the operating system, plus develop solutions for automating daily tasks in the areas such as job scheduling and report distribution.
  • Adhere and promote policies, standards, procedures and best practices that support the Company’s business needs for the applications within your area of responsibility. Required to follow the requirements using Aleris International IT Architecture policies, standards and procedures at the level necessary to meet business needs.
  • Monitor the Computer Room for safety and environmental breakdowns such as over heating, humidity, water flooding, cipher locks, UPS battery system, Halon, etc. Demonstrate knowledge of emergency procedures (facilities and equipment), making changes when applicable.
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in any technical or business discipline or equivalent education / experience in related fields.
  • 3+ years experience in Information Technology roles with significant level of complexity or accountability, including accountability for the design and implementation of information systems is required.
  • Experience in mainframe and distributed computing environments are required.
  • Ability to create a shared understanding of strategic direction and project scope. Ability to assist team members who have been assigned to work on projects for which you are accountable through clear task assignment, feedback, development planning, and modeling desired behaviors.
  • Experience maintaining and implementing information system solutions.
  • Strong experience with analysis of the data, events, or activities that the system must address and the development of a system design, which can cope with, patterns in those events or activities. Ability to use knowledge, skills and experience for exercising judgment. Ability to use theory and conceptual models to analyze events and to develop a framework for ordering the future flow of work.
  • Ability to achieve results, manage multiple tasks and objectives in parallel, and manage the technical and social issues associated with change.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills while exhibiting judgment and a realistic understanding of the issues involved.
  • Flexibility of hours is required based on business needs.
  • Ability to travel up to 15%.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Systems Leadership Theory would be an asset.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment.
