Overview / Job Summary

Aleris is a global leader in the manufacture and sale of aluminum rolled products, with approximately 14 facilities in three geographically aligned business units in North America, Europe and China. We serve a variety of end-use industries, including aerospace, automotive, defense, building and construction, transportation, packaging, and consumer goods.

 

 

The Sales Manager is responsible for sales activity relating to a limited amount of specific accounts as assigned by the Sales Directors. The professional is responsible for total sales and account management for those customers with targeted account development. The Sales Manager is accountable for achieving  annual sales plan targets, as well as providing total customer service as both the Outside and Inside sales representative to those accounts.  In this role, the professional will assist in defining sales and business development strategies and securing new business through account development and product line growth. The ideal candidate will learn the fundamentals of our Sales group in order to grow into a Regional Sales position, which will require extensive travel and relocation in the future.

Responsibilities Include

  • Make field sales calls on specified customers.
  • Develop and implement an annual sales strategy, concurrent with overall company business strategy, which successfully targets and captures additional market share from competitors to maximize sales.
  • Prepare and maintain sales call reports.
  • Collect and record competitor and market intelligence as a result of sales activities and market study.
  • Consistently increase customer satisfaction through superior customer service.
  • Keep abreast of industry and market conditions and communicate information/recommendations to management.
  • Prepare detailed customer presentations, business and price proposals.
  • Perform the duties of the Inside Sales Representative for targeted accounts, including but not limited to order pricing, lead-time establishment, order receipt, entry, monitoring, and expediting through the entire order process, including packing and shipment.
  • Provide detailed account status updates on an as required basis.
  • Provide monthly sales/shipment forecasts.
  • Support assigned accounts by conducting training.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as necessary.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate's degree
  • 2+ years of distributor sales, manufacturer sales, or related industry experience
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% and capability of working autonomously and maintain a flexible travel schedule to meet customer demands.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • A proven closer with good working knowledge of the aluminum industry.
  • Ability to prioritize, balance and manage multiple account developmental aspects.
  • Excellent sales skills and business intelligence skills.
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills.
  • Highest level of personal and professional integrity.
  • Excellent ability to analyze data to solve problems and make effective decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence others and impact change.
  • Self-motivated and aggressive in pursuing and achieving objectives.

 Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Aluminum industry experience
