Overview / Job Summary

 

Aleris is a global leader in the manufacture and sale of aluminum rolled products, with approximately 14 facilities in three geographically aligned business units in North America, Europe and China. We serve a variety of end-use industries, including aerospace, automotive, defense, building and construction, transportation, packaging, and consumer goods.

 

Our Corporate Headquarters in Beachwood, Ohio is seeking to add an experienced Logistics Analyst to its Procurement team. This individual will work closely with each plant to provide guidance and assistance with transportation management system (TMS) related needs. This role will be a focal point for the collection of data and internal stakeholder support.

Responsibilities Include

  • Interface with internal and external customers to provide dispatching services, pricing and carrier discussions. 
  • Negotiate and manage specific transportation contracts under the guidance of Logistics Managers. 
  • Provide analysis to determine freight cost trends, identifying inefficiencies, noncompliance and other opportunities for improvement. Support development of improvement opportunities in partnership with the management team.
  • Manage and support plants within assigned region in the management of logistics issues, including operations and financial.
  • Drive corporate initiatives at regional plants.
  • Develop communication channels that encourage teamwork, creative thinking and relentless drive for continuous improvement.
  • Develop and document processes and internal controls to improve service and carrier management.
  • Responsible for the Claims Management process within established guidelines.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Supply Chain or Business related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in a Logistics and/or Business Analyst role preferred.
  • High energy, strong analytical skills and data driven.
  • Excellent working knowledge of data systems and technology.
  • Proven ability to function with minimal supervision while also leading others toward project goals.
  • Project management experience preferred.
  • Ability to communicate at all levels of the Aleris organization, develop and present findings, and make recommendations in small and large group settings.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to travel domestically approximately 25%.
  • Advanced Excel experience required.  Access and PowerPoint proficiency preferred.
